We always look forward to the bi-annual KnowShow in Vancouver – amidst the bevy of friendly and handsome men you’ll meet – it’s the place to be to scope out next season’s lifestyle, fashion and sports wear. With headspace still in summer bikini mode it was a delight to preview Spring/Summer 2013 from over 300 exhibitors. Almost six years in the making, Marc Jacobs brings another artist collaboration to the Louis Vuitton label, Yayoi Kusama. The limited edition collection kick-starts the Japanese-born “Princess of Polka Dots” retrospect at the Whitney Museum, which opens July 12. The exhibit includes her 2002 Fireflies on the Water, a mirror, plexiglass, 150 light and water installation and an off-site installation Guidepost to the New Space at Pier 45 (in collaboration with the Gagosian Gallery). The first trade show in the New Year, Vancouver’s bi-annual KNOWSHOW at the Vancouver Convention Centre brought a little bit of LA with them this time around. Showcased inside a refurbished shipping container was Comune’s Throttled exhibit by Ray Gordon; photography celebrating hot rods, motorcycles and the people behind the scenes.
